About the film “Welcome Strangers” tells the story of how a young woman welcomes immigrants, mostly asylum-seekers, to the United States. Every night, when immigrants are legally released from the ICE detention center in Aurora, Colo., they are put on the street with neither supplies nor support. Many have spent months, or even years, separated from their families, many don't speak English, and some aren't even sure what city they are in. Sarah Jackson saw this lack of hospitality toward our neighbors and started Casa de Paz to fill this gap. The film shows how Sarah, along with lead volunteer Oliver and her team of volunteers, exemplify what it means to "love thy neighbor."
