"Welcome Strangers" - A Virtual Screening for Colorado Springs

Tickets are $5 per household. Closed captioning is available. Ticket buyers can watch the film anytime from January 13-17, 2021 and are invited to join us for a live virtual panel discussion and Q&A on Sunday, January 17 from 7:00 - 8:15 p.m.

Panelists will include: Oliver, a West Cameroon immigrant and the full-time host at Casa de Paz, Sarah Jackson (Casa de Paz founder and Executive Director; she spent some of her formative years as a teenager and young adult in Colorado Springs), Hannah Martin (Director of the Accompaniment and Sanctuary Coalition of Colorado Springs), Eric Pavri (local immigration attorney), Dia Sokol Savage (director), and Garret Savage (producer).

Donations are welcome and all proceeds will be split evenly between Casa de Paz, the Accompaniment and Sanctuary Coalition of Colorado Springs, and the film’s national outreach campaign to bring the story of Casa de Paz to a wider audience.

“Welcome Strangers” is partnering with Montview Blvd. Presbyterian Church for a special virtual screening event. Montview is the first church in the Denver area that we have co-hosted a screening with. Ticket buyers can watch the film anytime from Dec. 3 - 6 and are invited to join us for a live virtual panel discussion and Q&A on Sunday, Dec. 6 from 7 - 8:15 p.m.

The film features Oliver, a Montview congregation member, and Sarah Jackson, Casa de Paz founder and Executive Director. They will be joined at the panel and Q&A by immigration attorney Claudia Villa, director Dia Sokol Savage and producer Garret Savage.

Announcing a virtual community screening of "Welcome Strangers" from Oct. 6-11, 2020 in partnership with Casa de Paz. Watch director Dia Sokol Savage's new documentary short that follows Sarah Jackson and a team of volunteers as they welcome immigrants recently released from ICE detention. There will be a live Q&A with the filmmakers and film's stars starting at 7 pm MT on Sunday, Oct. 11.

All funds raised will be split evenly between Casa de Paz and the "Welcome Strangers" outreach campaign.

“Welcome Strangers” will be part of the 2020 Mountainfilm Festival in Telluride, CO. This year’s event will be virtual with online screenings available due to Covid-19.

The film’s director, Dia Sokol Savage, won the Telluride Mountainfilm 2020 Women in Film Award. It recognizes “an outstanding woman in the film industry who shows excellence and indomitable spirit either in front of or behind the camera.”
